Monday 5th December from 5.30pm

Wilton town boasts the tallest living Christmas Tree in Europe, some 66 (19.8metres) feet high right in the Market Square and every year there is a special ceremony of switching on the lights.

It is a FREE family event and the Square will be closed to traffic and parking from 4.00pm and then it will be filled with stalls, bar, BBQ, roundabouts, candy floss, hot chestnuts, Morris dancers and of course, Father Christmas on his sleigh.

The Mayor of Wilton, Cllr Trevor Batchelder, will do the countdown and switch on the lights at 6.30pm which will be followed by the traditional Nativity Play and Carols, led by The Wilton Christian Fellowship, local children and the the Wilton Band. Stand by afterwards for Sarum Morris doing their Winter dances and more carols in the Greyhound and an informal Christmas singa-long and Mummers Play in The Bear.

There is plenty of free parking in the Town.
