Over the next few months there are a number of initiatives planned which aim to engage with the local community particularly now as we have so many new residents joining us from the Wilton Hill development.

One of these initiatives is ‘The Great Big Lunch’ Sunday June 18th 11-4pm. This Free event is kindly being hosted by Wilton Shopping Village. The event, encompasses the Eden Project BIG LUNCH and the national event The Great Get Together in memory of Jo Cox MP, perhaps you have heard about these events.

Both causes encourage people to get together with their neighbours, and that’s the aim of this project.

As well as the Village shops participating, local groups such as the W.I, Thursday Lunch Club, Wilton and Barford School, Scouts, Guides, Fire Station, Rugby Club, Golf Club, Bowls Club and Youth Club have been invited to set up a stall at the event to raise awareness or funds for their organization.

The programme is still to be finalised but there will be stalls, live music, entertainment, food and activities. A fun day for all the family!

Also look out for information on a week of pop-up shops to fill the town 12th – 17th June.

This pop up shop Week is a project designed to fill empty stores in the town centre by offering shop space for short term hire. We are keen to ensure the proposed pop ups compliment the existing town centre trades -Wilton is recognised for the large proportion of independent shops it has on offer, which is part of the unique character of the town.

If you’re a business based in the town centre, we encourage you to get involved with this event and make the most of the promotion opportunity. This could be through decorating your windows, theming your products or posting about it on your Twitter and Facebook.

For all businesses there is the opportunity to offer sponsorship. The Great Big Lunch event is organised on a tight budget and we will be asking for sponsorship of flyers, posters and banners as well as Raffle Prizes.

Get in touch if you can help and please pass on this information to anyone who might be interested in a Pop Up Shop.
