Wilton Mens Shed is delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant. The Grant will enable the community in Wilton to be part of the International Mens Shed family (women also welcome!)

The Armed Forces Covenant supports members and ex-members of the Armed Forces and their families transition into civilian life. The grant recognises the importance of bringing the military, ex-serving and civilian community together to create a cohesive and inclusive project for wider community benefit.

The Men’s Shed in Wilton, due to open by the end of the year, will be part of a wider development on the former HQ UK Land Forces site. The site is a mixed development including homes for veterans, community café, nursery and a business enterprise hub.

The grant will enable Wilton Community Land Trust and Our Wilton to deliver a workshop space for the Men’s Shed project. This will provide a safe, supportive environment for people to meet, socialise, learn and share skills. Working together they will undertake projects to benefit the community.

The next step will be to appoint a Shed Mentor to start the ball rolling by setting up the shed, plan future activities and act as an ambassador raising awareness of the Men’s Sheds movement and its life changing benefits.
