One of the main reasons why the Wilton CLT got involved with the development at UKLF was to make sure that the community’s views on key infrastructure issues such as transport and schooling were included in the planning for the new development. We see this as an opportunity to have a positive influence on the future of the town, by the people who live and work here. This event is aimed at exploring how we can all look at possible, exciting, solutions.
Please come along!

Melanie Latham, Vice Chair Wilton CLT

Shared Space is a different approach to designing streets. Instead of using strict, inflexible systems like traffic lights, that take no account of what is happening on the ground, Shared Space streets encourage the users of a street to mingle, interact and negotiate with one another. It is claimed that Shared Space Streets are safer and more pleasant, improving a town’s economic and social vitality. In addition, journeys can become faster whether in a car, on foot or by bicycle. Hamilton-Baillie Associates have pioneered the development and application of Shared Space principles in the UK, drawing on emerging best practice from a number of mainland European countries.
