Dear Wilton Community Land Trust (WCLT) Member,

As Chair of WCLT, I’m writing to update you on our current activities / plans, and to ask for your help with an effort to improve our current membership records.

What we’ve been doing over the past 18 months:

  • We retain a 48% shareholding in Our Wilton CIC, the social enterprise company operating the Entrain Space Veterans Centre on the Wilton Hill housing development on the site of the former HQ Land Forces (adjacent to the Wilton Park & Ride facility off The Avenue). We continue to represent the community’s interest in Our Wilton CIC activities, especially the planned development of a long-awaited Enterprise Hub that will provide business facilities / employment opportunities on the Wilton Hill site. As a minority shareholder, we don’t have control over major decisions taken by Our Wilton CIC’s Board but we’re working continually in the background to achieve the best possible outcomes for the Wilton community.
  • As the major investor in Wilton Men’s Shed, we continue our strong support for this popular community facility and its management team led by Bob Primmer and Peter Edge. The Book Bunker Phone Box project on Shaftesbury Road is another WCLT funded initiative that we are proud to support.
  • You may have noticed social and local print media coverage of our growing partnership with Wilton Parish Church. A recent online and in-person survey of local people shows significant community support for the idea of refurbishing St Peter’s church and transforming it into a multi-use community hub. The Rector of Wilton parish – Revd. Mark Wood – is an enthusiastic supporter of this project and is fully involved in developing the next steps for this project.

What’s coming up next:

  1. We’re updating the WCLT website to make it more relevant, informative, and useful to our members and the wider Wilton community. We welcome any feedback or ideas you might have on this.
  2. We plan to publish the full results of the community survey on our plans for St Peter’s Church in late April – keep an eye on the WCLT website, our Facebook page, and local newspaper coverage for updates.
  3. We will be publishing our latest set of audited accounts and the planned date of our next AGM (likely to be scheduled in July) before the end of May – again, please see the WCLT website, our Facebook page, and local newspaper coverage for relevant updates.

Finally, my request to you:

Many of you joined WCLT over a decade ago and I’m conscious that our membership records need updating. As part of an effort to start this process, can I ask you to complete the simple action of forwarding this email to info@wiltonclt.com after you’ve read it. This will enable us to verify active versus inactive email addresses in our membership records.

Many thanks,

Neil Prigent
